Questions

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between secured and unsecured car loans?

A secured car loan uses the vehicle as security, which often results in a lower rate. Unsecured loans do not use the vehicle as security, so they usually cost more but can suit older vehicles or other purchases.

What is a balloon payment?

A balloon is a lump sum payable at the end of the loan. It reduces your regular repayments, but the amount must be paid or refinanced when the loan ends, and the total interest paid is higher.

Should I use dealer finance?

Dealer finance can be convenient, but comparing it with other options helps confirm you are receiving a competitive offer. Pre-approval also strengthens your position when negotiating the vehicle's price.

Can I purchase from a private seller?

Yes. Many lenders finance private sales, usually subject to checks on the vehicle and seller before settlement.
