The structure of an investment loan matters as much as the rate. Your broker structures your borrowing so it is easier to manage, review and build on, working alongside your accountant.

We calculate how much equity you may be able to access for a deposit, and the effect on your overall borrowing position.

Repayment options

We compare interest-only and principal-and-interest repayments, and their effect on your cash flow and loan balance.

Planning for future purchases

We structure today's lending with your next purchase in mind, so it supports rather than limits your plans.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Can I use the equity in my home to purchase an investment property?

In many cases, yes. Lenders may allow you to borrow against the equity in your home for the deposit and costs, subject to valuation and your capacity to service both loans. We will set out how the borrowing would be structured.

Interest-only or principal and interest?

Interest-only repayments are lower for a set period, but the loan balance does not reduce during that time, and rates are often higher. Principal-and-interest repayments are higher each month but reduce the loan. The appropriate choice depends on your goals and cash flow.

Are investment rates higher than owner-occupied rates?

Generally, yes. Lenders typically price investment loans higher than owner-occupied loans, and policies vary between lenders. We compare options from our panel for your circumstances.

How do taxes affect my investment loan?

Tax outcomes depend on your individual circumstances, so we recommend speaking with your accountant. We will work with the structure they recommend.
